Baby’s 1st Solid Food
Start solid food from the age of six months, let them start with two things, one is mashed banana and the other is boiled rice or iron-enriched rice cereal but starts with miner quantity and increase gradually. Start with a spoon and let it do the same taste for a week so that develop the taste. When a child passes the stool make sure that the color of the stool does not change nor loose motion.
In 2nd week
Introduce new things like a boil and mashed vegetables, chicken and meat but in miner quantity. You can start the potato, sweet potato and Yogurt at the age of 8 months with 2 spoons. Try to taste Roasted salmon fish in the (it is very good for babies' health). You can start Egg-yolk (1 tablespoon) at the age of 8 months too but start a full egg at the age of 1 year.
Remember don’t give all-time same diet otherwise they will be fed up very soon. Always give them food with little changes. When you offer a new food to the baby, continue the same for 2-3 days to check that the baby has no allergy to the given food. Always focus more on quality instead of quantity. Offer varieties of food throughout the day so that the baby gets more and more nutrients. Try to eat with the baby that way the baby gets used to regular family meals and develops the eating food together.
When babies start eating solid food then after 1 year you can make a food chart for them.
Note: Please don’t force the baby to fit with the timings. All babies are different and have different food and milk requirements so, there is nothing to worry about if your baby is not taking all the things according to the chart. Adjust your baby’s routine according to his/her needs.Requirements for 1- 2 years babies
Milk 2-3 times a day
Meals 3 times a day
Snacks 2 times a day
Start the day by offering the milk
Breast milk/Formula/Whole milk

What I can do if my baby refuses solid food?
All babies are different and have different moods. Try to offer food during the first couple of months that will help your baby to learn new tastes, textures and smells. If the baby refuses food continually, try to observe signs of hunger in your baby then offer solids before giving the milk feed. Eating is a social event that's why if you and your family members eat together the more your baby learns to eat and he/she will enjoy what the family is eating.
Food Preparation for baby
Food safety is very important. Always wash your hands before Food Preparation and always make sure that the area is clean where you prepare the food.
Be prepared for a mess!
Playing with food is your baby’s way of exploring new learning. Babies like to eat by themselves, so give them a soon-to hold from the start.
If I see allergic reactions?
If you have a family allergic problem then seek advice from your family doctor before start solids. If you see any allergic reactions after offer solids please contact your family Doctor.
TIPS FOR LOVELY KIDS
- Babies between 1-2 years need to sleep for 12-14 hours a day (including day naps).
- Avoid nutrient-poor foods with high levels of saturated fat, sugar, or salt (e.g. cakes, biscuits, confectionery and potato chips).
- If possible try to feed your baby with family members. Your baby will learn that mealtimes are not just about food but also about social interaction.
