How To Keep Up Your Energy Up When You Are Homebound During COVID?

COVID 19
Are you one of those people who find it difficult to stay at home? Does staying at home increase your anxiety and fatigue? As we know, this entire year has been swallowed up by COVID-19 which led to the closure of schools, offices, recreational points, and more. I know this time can be very exhausting. So, today I am going to share some of my favorite tips to increase your energy and motivation levels when you are homebound especially during this pandemic.

Consume high energy foods

There are certainly high-energy foods and high-energy drinks that can boost up your energy level. Recent research has found out that eating can improve your mood and lower your stress. Try to add citrus fruits and red bell peppers to your diet as they are rich in Vitamin C and help to build your immunity. Fish is also one of the high-energy foods that can reduce your anxiety as it is enriched with omega-3 fatty acids. Magnesium-enriched foods are also said to make you feel calmer and support your immune system. For instance, seeds, nuts, legumes, leafy greens, whole grains, etc.

Consume Sunlight

Did you know that sunlight helps to boost a chemical in your brain known as ‘serotonin' which gives your body more energy, makes you feel calmer and reduces your anxiousness? Well, now you know. Decreased sun exposure can lead to depression and anxiety. So, it is best to sit in the sunlight even for 20 to 30 minutes but make sure that you avoid the mid-day sun (usually from 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm) as it gives out the strongest ultraviolet radiation.

Conserve Your Energy

The most important way to keep up your energy level during this pandemic is by conserving your energy. Do those activities which you are comfortable with. If you find a task difficult, manage to stop yourself and do something slightly less difficult. Exercising is a key to stay active these days and it also helps to put you in a good mood. But, do not force yourself to do hours-long workout sessions. Try doing a little more each day rather than overdoing it.

Remember, this is a difficult time but this too shall pass. But, we need to keep ourselves on track and do the best we can to protect ourselves and our loved ones. Try eating healthy and high-energy foods to build your immunity. Take care of each other in the best and safest way possible because we are in this together! Cheers!
